Last week, our P&C held our Fathers' Day Stall on Wednesday 3rd September. There were many, happy, smiling faces as children purchased gifts for Dad or a significant influence in their lives.
A massive thank you to all of our parent volunteers, superbly organised by Liz Vrontamitis, our P&C Events Coordinator.
Mural - Official Unveiling
On Friday 5th September we held the official unveiling of our mural.
Bendigo Bank North Ryde sponsored the painting of the mural at our school. This was a collaboration with selected students from grades 2-6 who worked with the 'Muralisto' group to create the mural named "Growing with Nature".
It was a wonderful ceremony with a number of dignitaries and a great opportunity to showcase our talented artists along with the Performance Band who performed a number of items for entertainment.
Our School Captains, John and Pippa also did a wonderful job hosting the proceedings.
Please see our gallery of photos within this newsletter.
Stage 3 Camp
As you read this newsletter, our Stage 3 students are enjoying their camp to Bathurst to learn all about the history of gold mining. It is always a wonderful camp, which is not only a valuable learning experience but a social experience as well.

We hope to provide more photos in the next newsletter.
Sport
Finally, please read the important information in the Sports section regarding a new date for our School Athletics Carnival.
Kind regards

You will only need to complete this form if you are NOT sending your child to North Ryde PS in 2026.
Please complete this form by Friday 26th September.

Amber shines at Festival of Instrumental Music
Last night, Monday 8th September, I had the pleasure of watching Amber perform at Festival of Instrumental Music at the Sydney Opera House. She gave an outstanding performance playing Hungarian Dance No5 by Johannes Brahms on the marimba.
Congratulations, Amber!

Celebrating Our Alumni: Staying Connected with North Ryde Public School
At North Ryde Public School, we take great pride in the achievements of our former students. To celebrate their successes and inspire our current community, we hope to regularly publish stories and updates about our alumni. Sharing these journeys not only highlights the diverse paths our students take but also strengthens the sense of connection and pride within our school community. We look forward to keeping you informed and inspired by the remarkable accomplishments of those who once walked our halls.
Mikaela Gavranic is a former student at North Ryde Public School and was our School Captain in 2021.
With her skill, courage and determination, Mikaela has gone on to represent The CommBank Junior Matildas at the ASEAN U-16 Girls' Championship 2025. Mikaela scored a goal in a strong 3-0 victory over Singapore to stay atop of Group C, booking their spot in the final four of the tournament. They progressed to the final and defeated Thailand 1-0. What an achievement!
We hope that all of our students can aspire to success in their chosen professions.
Congratulations to Mikaela, we are so proud of you and we wish you every success in the future!

Sylvia of Class 3/4T has not attended our school for very long but she has really embraced being at North Ryde Public School producing some fine work.
Class 3/4T had to write a persuasive text and Sylvia's topic was "iPads Should Be Banned for Children".
She produced some very convincing, detailed arguments.
Well done, Sylvia!

President’s Update
With Spring here, the P&C are very excited that Bunnings volunteers will be coming to enhance our school gardens over the next couple of weeks. Thanks to Linda, our P&C Environment Coordinator, for organising this. We're all looking forward to seeing our playground freshly mulched and painted in colours chosen by parent & student votes.
Our last P&C meeting of the term is coming up this Tuesday 9th September at 6.30pm. As always, we'd love to have parents come and join us in the staffroom or dial in online via Teams. This is your opportunity to hear what the P&C is organising for the school, to hear Mr Francis' Principal's report, suggest ideas and ask any other questions you may have.
There's also been plenty of P&C activity over the last few weeks:
Many thanks to Liz, Jess and all the parents who packed and ran the Father's Day stall last week. We had a very happy dad in our household who enjoyed his many thoughtfully selected gifts.
Thanks to the new and familiar faces who have been helping provide our regular canteen and uniform shop services - Amelia, Jo, Diane, Romina, Mel and Rebecca.
Thanks also to Karen, Sandy & Imelda who organised our Performance Band to play at the unveiling of the new school mural last Friday. Their performance was thrilling. More band performances will be happening soon in upcoming assemblies.
The P&C run lots of regular programs, like band, and we're in need of new helpers. Next year some of our dedicated Band Committee members will be leaving us. We are looking for parents or carers who may be interested in taking on the Band Coordinator, Band Treasurer, Instrument Manager or Band Parent Liaison roles. If you'd like to learn more or become involved, please reach out to our Band Coordinator, Karen, on pcband@nrps.org.au or myself at pcpresident@nrps.org.au.

We had a successful Father’s Day Stall last week, with students carefully choosing from eight gift options.
A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers who generously gave their time to help at the P&C Father’s Day Stall. The day ran smoothly, and the kids did a fantastic job selecting their gifts.
Liz
P&C Fundraising and Events
We are fully stocked in all uniforms, including long-sleeve polos and expecting additional stocks of sloppy Joe jumpers to arrive this week.
Thanks to Romina, Joanna, Liz, Kerry and Nicole who have helped the uniform shop in the last few weeks.
We have made an easy sign-up form in My School Connect to be able to register your interest and book into helping pack, and sort orders. This happens on a Friday, usually around drop-off time and takes on average 30 minutes. All or any help is appreciated, as without the support of the school parents and community we won't be able to operate the uniform shop and generate revenue for the school P and C to put back into the school for our children.
