Premier's Reading Challenge
Dear Parents and Carers,
Registration for the 2024 NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge opened on Monday 24 February! Would you like your child to be involved?
What is the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC)? The PRC is a NSW government initiative that aims to encourage a love of reading in students for leisure and pleasure, and to enable students to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely. Participation in the PRC is voluntary, not compulsory. The Challenge finishes on 23 August of this year.
What does my child need to do to be part of the PRC? To complete the PRC, students need to read a set number of books from the PRC booklist, as follows:

Students in Years K-2 can ‘experience’ a book; students in Years 3-6 must read their books independently. To experience a book, K-2 students can listen to the book, participate in a shared reading of the book, or read part or all of the book independently. You can find the complete booklist for each challenge at https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/booklist/home.html
Our library has an ever-growing collection of PRC books (labelled with colour-coded stickers) that students can borrow during class visits to the library or at lunchtimes, and they can hop online to update their reading logs at the same time. The PRC will also be supported and encouraged throughout weekly library lessons.
I have shown students the process of logging books on the PRC website during their class’ visits to the library. Your child’s PRC login details will be the same as their normal school login details – please check with their teacher if unsure of what they are.
Reading is the way to grow!
