The last couple of weeks have been busy ones for both staff and students.
Our Year 1 and 2 students are now into their final week of swimming lessons, a vital skill for all students to be able to accomplish. they have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and developed their skills.
We held our Term Principal's Medallion Assembly last week and it was an honour to celebrate the achievements of many of our students who achieved their Gold Medallion. Congratulations to all of our recipients.
Our teaching staff have also been busy preparing for Term 4 with each stage involved in planning meetings. This allows us to continue to deliver high-quality teaching to your students.
I want to thank the P&C and give a special mention to Linda Holen, our P&C Environment Coordinator who managed to secure the services of 20+ personnel from Bunnings to beautify our school. Along with parent volunteers, they cleaned, sanded, painted, mulched and planted for a number of hours last Tuesday. Please check out our photo gallery in this newsletter.
Thank you all for the pride you show in our school. You have my heartfelt thanks for your amazing efforts. The students are already talking about it with their parents!
Finally, another term is nearly over and we look forward to the many special moments that will occur in Term 4. Please check out our Term 4 Parent Calendar within this newsletter for more information.
I thank you all for a wonderful term of teaching and learning. We hope our students take the opportunity to reset, relax and recharge so that they are ready for another busy term of learning. Have a wonderful holiday break!
As there is a School Development Day on Monday 13th October, I remind you that students return to school on Tuesday, 14th October.
Kind regards
Rob Francis

2026 - Will your child be at North Ryde Public School?
Around this time of the year, the NSW Department of Education requests schools to commence projecting enrolment numbers for the following year (2026).
Naturally, this impacts staffing levels and budgets at the school.
If your child is in Kindergarten to Year 5 you will be receiving an email this week asking you to complete a School Bytes form.
You will only need to complete this form if you are NOT sending your child to North Ryde PS in 2026.
Please complete this form by Friday 26th September.
Our Stage 1 students have been enjoying their swimming lessons during Weeks 9 and 10 at Macquarie University Sports and Aquatic Centre. This program helps build water confidence, develop essential swimming skills, and promote water safety in a fun and supportive environment. It’s been wonderful to see our young swimmers growing their abilities and having a great time learning in a professional aquatic setting.
Miss Baptist
Class 5/6B have been learning about Road Safety. To demonstrate their learning, each student designed and created a Road Safety poster.
Chloe, Lily, Shaun, Serena and Cassie put a great deal of effort into their posters taking great care with neatness and design.
Well done to all of you!
Students in 3/4C have been learning to write persuasive texts in the form of arguments. The topic was that "Teachers (Should or Should not) wear uniforms".
Zara, Jia, Tommy and Andre used great Tier 2 and 3 words to strengthen and craft their writing. Well done to all of you.
-
Infants students explored the importance of personal hygiene, choosing foods that contribute to good health, the benefits of physical activity and sleep, and how to stay safe online.

- Learning activities – coordinating the NRPS Bands & instruments, coordinating the Ethics program, running the Scholastic Book Club
- Fundraising for school needs – e.g. purchasing PSSA uniforms, playground upgrades, equipment repairs
- Organising student events – e.g. the school disco, Trivia Night, Easter Egg guessing competition, raffles, Father’s Day stall, Mother’s Day stall
- Running school community events – e.g. Tea & Tissues for Kindy parents
- Providing uniforms – running the school Uniform Shop and second-hand uniform sales
- School Canteen – running the school canteen on Fridays
We are in need of more parent helpers next year and are seeking interest from parents to take on P&C roles in 2026. Now is the time to think about how you can become involved!
Our Annual General Meeting will be held in Week 4 Term 4 where all the P&C Roles are open to nominations. In particular, our Band program and Uniform Shop are in need of Coordinators. Handover and mentoring is available for all roles.
See the list below for the range of ways parents and carers have been helping this year. I encourage you to use the School Holiday break to think about how you can help in 2026 as not all our current P&C members are returning to the school or their current roles next year.
To contact the P&C or ask questions about any of the roles, please email me at pcpresident@nrps.org.au.

Bunnings Project Day - Thank You!
On Tuesday 16 September, our school was buzzing with activity as more than 25 volunteer staff from Bunnings stores across Sydney joined our P&C volunteers for a huge day of improvements.
The project focused on two key areas:
- HMAS Friendship Playground - the tired wooden beams were sanded, oiled and repainted in bright, fun colours, with new mulch added underneath to create a safer, refreshed play space.
- Block E Native Garden - a large new garden bed was planted out with shade-tolerant Australian natives, creating a green and welcoming space for students, families and visitors.
This work was made possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our partners:
- Bunnings - volunteer staff on the day and donations of plants, mulch, and general supplies.
- Cabot’s - timber oil for restoring the playground beams.
- Dulux - paint to bring the playground to life with colour.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their time, effort and resources. The results are already being enjoyed by our students and will benefit the school community for many years to come!
Linda
P&C Environment Coordinator

On Tuesday 16th September a crowd of Bunnings workersw and store managers converged on North Ryde Public School to assist in updating the soft fall mulch in our playground and planting new plants along the path between the Stage 2 and 3 blocks.
And what a job they did!
They worked hard from 9am - 4pm to do as much as they could and the results are outstanding.
A massive thank you to Linda Holen from the P&C who coordinated the day.
Thank you to all the Bunnings workers and the P&C Volunteers who turned up to assist.
Great things happen when communities come together and you all did that in spades! (pardon the pun).
The efforts of all of our hard workers is very much appreciated!
