Ethics
Ethics Term 1 - What are we talking about?
Stage 1 – Years 1 & 2: When is it fair?
Our Stage 1 students are exploring fairness, starting with a story about some animals baking bread – where all but one help with the work. Should the animal who didn’t help still get to share in the bread? Later, they’ll discuss fairness in different contexts, including how to divide slices of cake. Through these discussions, they’ll consider different ways of thinking about fairness and what makes something feel fair or unfair.
We always need more volunteers
More families choose ethics than we have volunteers to teach the classes. We currently have four classes of children on a waitlist. If you can spare half and hour on Thursday mornings, or know of friends or grandparents who could, please share with them.
Your time is a valuable gift as a volunteer ethics teacher. Classes help children develop the life skills they need to voice their opinions, listen respectfully to others and make decisions based on evidence and reasoning rather than habit or peer pressure.
