P&C Committee News
President’s Update
Thank you to every parent, carer and former student who have supported our school P&C through the first half of this year. We have had a great start to the year, thanks you for your help. Our P&C VP Public Relations, Aurawan, has helped me compile a very long list of all the things the P&C have achieved so far:
- Supporting student learning - new literacy curriculum supported by purchasing decodable readers, thesauruses, and curriculum-aligned literacy resources, directly supporting classroom learning. Maths made easier with new calculators for Stage 3. Gift vouchers given to each class teacher to enhance general classroom supplies.
- Events for our kids - the Welcome BBQ, Easter Egg guessing competition and the Mother’s Day Stall were a great start to the year. And we will celebrate the last week of term on Wednesday night with the much-loved annual student DISCO!!
- Fundraising fun - we've had a very chocolatey Easter Egg raffle, a successful Domino’s Dough Raiser and Election BBQ + cake and garden stalls. Plus, the fabulous James Breko hosted our Trivia Night where we had a hilarious night of trivia, games, prizes and kookaburra impersonations as we raised nearly $3000 for our school.
- Band Program - coordinating three school bands, including a successful Annual Band Workshop in May and the Performance Band's participation in the Ryde East Festival in June.
- Uniform Shop - providing new and second hand uniforms to our students, including a big second hand sale in Term 1, fitting Kindies with winter uniforms and packing online orders weekly.
- Canteen - this year saw the relaunch of weekly Canteen on Fridays to fill our student's tummies.
- Improving facilities - upgrades to the school hall, including a new clock and the planned addition of air conditioning. For fun, additional duplo and board games have been donated for wet day play, and the P&C have replaced aged soccer nets.
- Greening Our Grounds - upgrading garden beds at the Main Gate, including providing gloves and tools for student use, and a very successful Working Bee held in June to clean up the courtyard, gardens and clean out the Canteen
- Growing Our School Community - The P&C launched WhatsApp groups for all Class Parents to improve communication and community connection, with events like Tea & Tissues and the P&C Meet & Greet Afternoon Tea helping us connect with families
We are still looking for more volunteers, especially for the Band (pcband@nrps.org.au) and Uniform Shop (pcuniformshop@nrps.org.au) if you have time to assist. Please reach out to them, or to myself at pcpresident@nrps.org.au.
Enjoy the holidays and see you in Term 3!
