This was a time to come together and celebrate the strength, diversity and achievements of NSW public education — where every student is supported to learn, grow and thrive.
We held our Open Day on Thursday 7th August and students and parents were able to view our special Art Expo. It's a shame we couldn't have a family picnic on our school grounds. We hope you all still had a wonderful day!
Please check out our photo gallery to view the artworks.
A big thank you to Mrs Taggart for her organisation of the day and also to the teachers who organised their class displays in the hall.
Please remember that Book Week comes along in Week 5. The Book Fair opens on Tuesday 19th August and there is a "Snuggle Up and Read" Mufti Day organised for Wednesday 20th August. The theme for the Children's Book Week in 2025 is "Book an Adventure". This theme is also celebrating 80 years of Children's Book Week in Australia. The theme encourages young readers to embark on literary journeys and explore new worlds through books.
Last Friday 8th August, our Year 5/6 Choir performed at the Chorals Concert at the Sydney Opera House. My thanks go to Mrs Brown, Mrs To and the Year 5/6 for their hard work and dedication over many months. You all performed superbly!
Our Athletics Carnival, has now been POSTPONED on four occasions due to the poor weather conditions and state of the grounds. We are still holding out hope that it can occur.
Tonight, Tuesday 12th August, is our Kindergarten 2026 Parent Information Evening at 6.00pm - 7.00pm in the Hall. We look forward to welcoming our new parents and providing them with what we hope is an informative evening.
Kind regards
Rob Francis
Principal
I noted with interest that one of our students completed his Open Day artwork stating that he wants to grow up to be a School Principal.
Asher Moyo has high expectations of himself and deservedly so!
I thought it was a good opportunity for Asher to gain some experience.
I could be looking for another job!
Class captains play a vital role in fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment. They serve as a link between teachers and students, helping to communicate ideas, concerns, and feedback. By taking on leadership responsibilities, class captains develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. They also promote a sense of belonging and community among their peers, encouraging participation and collaboration in classroom activities. Ultimately, having class captains empowers students to take an active role in their education and contributes to a supportive learning atmosphere.
Please congratulate our Semester 2 Class Captains for 2025.
Bullying No Way Week is Australia's key bullying prevention initiative for schools. It provides an opportunity for schools to create a shared understanding about bullying behaviours and share their bullying prevention policies and strategies.
The national week of action unites government, Catholic and independent schools and their communities across the country. Together, we can foster practical approaches to prevent bullying in Australian schools.
2025 theme
The theme for 2025 is 'Be bold. Be kind. Speak up.'
It takes courage to spark change.
Bullying is everyone's responsibility. It takes a community to be brave and address bullying behaviours, within and beyond the school gate.
Students can be bold, kind and take a stand to support others being bullied, while parents and teachers are there to support children and young people learn how to behave in a positive way.
In our community and in our school, we want a place where everyone can belong, a place that celebrates everyone, and where bullying is never accepted.
This Bullying No Way Week, we're asking students, schools, families and communities to be bold and say something, be kind and support someone, and be proud to take a stand against bullying.
North Ryde Public School will be acknowledging Bullying No Way on Thursday 14th August by asking students to wear purple.
It was a wonderful surprise to learn that Leo Kingsley of Class 2M had been declared a winner in his category for the 2025 ANZAC School Initiative Competition.
The aim of the ANZAC School Initiatives was to give an added tool for teachers, providing a greater understanding and awareness of the importance and respect of ANZAC Day.
Leo was presented with an impressive medal at our recent school assembly.
Congratulations, Leo!
Congratulations to Chloe Wiseman of Class KG!
Chloe was a finalist in the "Little Sydney Lives 2025" photography competition.
And......SHE WON!
Below is a copy of the winning photo and Chloe with her prize, a camera for winning as well as a framed certificate.
Well done, Chloe!

Students in KG have been working hard to write correct sentences with capital letters and full stops. They have also been learning to use tricky words like "here", "have" and "with".
It was a pleasure to have Angus, Akshara and Jonathan come and read their sentences to me.
Well done, everyone!
President’s Update
Thanks to everyone who attended the recent P&C Meeting in Week 3. Mr Francis updated us on school's NAPLAN results for this year, and we discussed some new ways the P&C might be able to contribute to the school in 2026. If you'd like to become involved, it's never too late! We will soon be looking for new role holders for 2026 to help with all the tasks and responsibilities the P&C have - from providing regular services like band, canteen and the uniform shop, through to organising events like the recent trivia night, the student disco, and the upcoming Father's Day Stall.
This Thursday, 14th August, we have the opportunity to meet with Jordan Lane, our local Member of Parliament. All are welcome to attend this open discussion in the school library, from 6.30pm.
To stay in touch, we also have a North Ryde Public School P&C Facebook group you can join, or arrange to join your class WhatsApp group (if you haven't already) by emailing pcpr@nrps.org.au. These are valuable ways the P&C shares information and that parents & carers can engage with each other.
If you'd like to know more about the P&C, how you can get involved, or have ideas to share, please contact the P&C via pcpresident@nrps.org.au.
